“The blue trees don’t care about people like us”
“That’s what my son Kit heard from children in the playground at school last week and it’s what I’ve been hearing from parents at the school gate and from voters on the doorstep too. I’ve lived in Eastleigh for 13 years, and I know the concerns of many of the families here, because they are my concerns too. I’ve had lots of conversations on the doorstep with former Lib Dem voters who are switching to Labour because this time, for the first time, they’ll be voting with their hearts.
“Eastleigh has been swept into the spotlight over the last few weeks and it’s amazing to see the momentum that we’ve seen from volunteers. The campaign has brought my whole family together, from door knocking with my mum and my three children, through to my husband building our 6 foot by 4 foot “Vote Labour” signs in the front garden. I want people to know that Labour are working hard here, I want people to feel the buzz that I feel when I’m out talking to voters.
“For years the people of Eastleigh have been told that “Labour can’t win here” but we are going out and meeting voters because we know that’s not true. Whatever the result on Thursday, when the journalists and cameras have left and Eastleigh is no longer in the spotlight, we will continue to fight hard for Eastleigh. The Labour Party won’t be going anywhere.
“We have four days til polling day. With canvass sessions and leaflet rounds running everyday til Thursday, there’s always something you can do. Give us a call 07872 417222 or sign up here.
“I can’t wait to see you on the doorstep.”
